1. How do I know if I am already registered to vote and where is my polling place?

You can use The Voter Registration Look-up Tool https://portaldir.ct.gov/sots/LookUp.aspx

Your name should to
be entered EXACTLY as initially written on your Registration Card (e.g., John Paul Doe vs. J.P. Doe) Please contact us if you believe you are registered but are not found in the system.

2. I am from Ledyard and attending college in CT (or in another state), How do I vote back in my hometown?

You are able to apply for an absentee ballot if
you are out of your town on the day of the election and for a few other
reasons. Absentee ballot applications are issued by the Town Clerk, not the

3. Can I register to vote before I am 18?

You may pre-register as a 17-year-old only if you will be 18 by that years November election. Once you are pre-registered, you will be added to the voting list and be eligible to vote.

If you registered with a political party, you are eligible to vote in that party’s primary as a 17-year-old as you will turn 18 by that November Election.

4. Who can vote in a primary election?

Only registered voters (including a qualified 17-year-old)
affiliated with a political party can vote in that party's election. For
example, if you are a registered Democrat, you can vote only in a Democratic
primary. Unaffiliated voters cannot vote in any primary election. 

5. How can I change my party affiliation?

You must fill out a new application form and
indicate the party with which you want to affiliate.
 If you are a Democrat or Republican and want to change parties, it takes three
months from the date you apply until your new party affiliation is effective. If you are an unaffiliated voter and want to register as a Democrat or Republican, complete the voter registration form and your new affiliation is effective immediately.

6. Will I ever need to re-register?

You must re-register ONLY when you move to another Connecticut town. If you change your name (for example by marriage), or your address in town, notify the Office of the Registrar of Voters in your community. If you receive a postcard or letter from the Registrar of Voters asking if your name and address are still current, please Send It Back to be certain your name will not be removed from the Active Voter list.

7. How can I help out on election day?

check off the box on the application that you are interested in helping. If you
