Change to your Tax bills due January 1, 2021
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, Governor Lamont has issued Executive Order 9R relating to tax payments. The grace period for all tax payments originally due January 1, 2021 has been extended 90 days. All tax payments must be paid no later than April 1, 2021 in order to avoid interest. On April 2, 2021, interest will be calculated back to the original due date of January 1, 2021 at a rate of 1.5% per month. Hence the initial amount of interest due beginning April 2, 2021 will be 6%. Payments must be postmarked with a US Postmark or received by April 1, 2021 in order to be considered on time state statute.
Landlords
In order for a landlord or any taxpayer that rents/leases property to be eligible for the extended grace period, must provide the Tax Collector with documentation that either the they will suffer significant income loss, or that commensurate forbearance has been offered to their tenants. Please complete the application. Applications MUST be received by the Tax Collector by January 31, 2021.
