RACE ROUTE: North on Gallup Hill Road, Right (west) on to Colonel Ledyard Highway, Right (North) onto Route 117 through the center, Right (East) on Route 214, right (South) onto Spicer Hill and finally a right back onto Gallup Hill where the race will finish.
TRAFFIC DELAYS: In order to provide a safe environment for the participants in this event there will be significant road closures and the area will experience traffic congestion during this time period. We encourage local residents and other vehicular traffic that may be passing through to utilize alternate travel routes during this time. We will make every effort to move only traffic through the area but you will undoubtedly experience some delays if you have to travel through the race area during the event. It is anticipated that there will be hard closures for the first half hour of the event and as runners and walkers move through the course we will systematically begin to allow traffic to flow from the starting point of the race through the rest of the course as participants clear out from the respective areas. The Longest delays will occur on Route 214 (Iron Street) from the Junction of Route 117 heading east to Spicer Hill as well as on Gallup Hill where the starting and end points of the race are situated.
Alternate Travel Routes: The following roadways are suggested as alternate travel routes during the race event; Church Hill Road, Silas Dean Road, Shewville Road North/South
Sandy Hollow Road, Whale Head Road, Avery Hill Road, Avery Hill Road Ext.
Lambtown Road, Pumpkin Hill, and Wendell Comrie.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we recognize this may cause some inconvenience to your daily schedules.
Respectfully,
Ledyard Resident Trooper and the Ledyard Police Department
Sgt. Jeffrey McDermott # 107
Lt. Ken Creutz # EC64
