Shelter-In-Place
In the event of a release of hazardous materials (from a facility like Dow Chemical, a transport truck, or a terrorist act) the school district will activate its shelter-in-place procedures. Shelter-in-place provides temporary shelter for students and staff from a hazardous materials release. Shelter-in-place will remain in effect until the Director of Emergency Management determines that conditions are safe for students and staff to leave the buildings.
Schools in Lockdown
During the shelter-in-place period, all schools will be locked. Students and staff will not be allowed to leave and individuals other than emergency personnel will not be allowed to enter.
Rules
Shelter-in-place rules will apply to you at home as well as our schools, and you should remain in a safe place until the emergency has passed.
