Arrest in Disturbance
On November 9, 2010, the Ledyard Police Department received a 911 call from the resident at 6M Lakeside Drive reporting that an individual was attempting to gain entry to his condominium. The caller stated that the accused had also thrown a rock through the windshield of his vehicle. On arrival, officers located the accused, Kevin Brown (date of birth April 4, 1968) of 1 Stoney Brook Drive, Waterford, Connecticut, still outside the residence. Investigating officers found that Brown had gone to the residence of the victim because he was owed a large sum of money. Brown was placed under arrest and charged with criminal mischief 2nd degree and breach of peace. The accused was processed and released on a $1,000 bond with a court date of November 23, 2010, at GA 10 New London.

Susp Vehicle Leads to Drug Arrest
On November 10, 2010, at approximately 0658 hours, the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a suspicious vehicle outside a residence on Bobwhite Trail in Ledyard, Connecticut. Responding officers located a vehicle occupied by 2 people. Investigation found that the vehicle operator was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Andrew Hanson (date of birth February 19, 1990) of 31 Washington Drive in Gales Ferry was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphanalia. He was processed and released on a $1,000 non-surety bond to appear at GA 10 New London.

Larceny & Risk of Injury Arrests
On November 18, 2010, the Ledyard Police Department arrested Connor Lehner (date of birth May 13, 1992) of 175 Whalehead Road in Gales Ferry, Connecticut, on an arrest warrant. The arrest comes from an investigation by the Ledyard Police Department Patrol and Detective Divisions into a series of Larceny's from the bank account of a Ledyard resident. During the investigation Police learned that Lehner and the juvenile daughter of the victim removed money from ATM machines on several occasions during the months of August and September 2010. Lehner was charged with 5 counts of larceny in the 6th degree and 4 counts of risk of injury to a minor. He was held on a $5,000 bond and will be presented at GA 10 in New London.

Update
On November 19, 2010, the Ledyard Police Department made additional arrests of Connor Lehner (date of burth May 13, 1992) of 175 Whalehead Road in Gales Ferry, who was in court to be arraigned for a November 18, 2010, arrest. Lehner was charged with failure to appear in court on an arrest warrant issued by the Superior Court in New London. He was also charged on an arrest warrant with larceny in the 4th degree, illegal use of a credit card, and identity theft as a result of investigation by the Ledyard Police Department Patrol and Detective Divisions into unauthorized charges made to an account held by relatives of the accused.

Lehner was presented for arraignment at GA 10 New London for all 3 arrests

Motor Vehicle Accident on RT 117
On November 23, 2010, at 0721 hours, the Ledyard Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle accident having occurred in the intersection of Route 117 and Route 214, and that an involved vehicle was on fire. Officers from the Ledyard Police Department, as well as the Ledyard Fire Company responded and found that the fire had been extinguished and that none of the operators required transport to the hospital. Investigation by the Ledyard Police Department found that a 2000 Van operated by Timothy Mihalko (date of birth February 20, 1991) of Ledyard traveling southbound on Route 117 struck a box truck operated by Lyle Suitor (date of birth September 1, 1950) of Montville traveling west in Route 214. The accident scene required sporadic road closures and DOT sanding until the scene was cleared. The crash remains under investigation

Larceny Arrest
On November 23, 2010, the Ledyard Police Department arrested Steven J. Young  (date of birth December 21, 1989) of 577 Shewville Road in Ledyard on an arrest warrant stemming from an investigation into an October 2010 larceny from a residence on Blacksmith Drive in Ledyard. Officers from both the Patrol and Detective Divisions of the Ledyard Police Department found through investigation that Young had pawned several items of jewelry which had been reported stolen from the residence. He was charged with larceny in the 4th degree and will be assigned a court date at GA 10 in New London.

Motor Vehicle Accident with Injuries
On November 24, 2010, at approximately 0601 hours the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a motor vehicle accident on Route 12 at the entrance to the Dow Chemical/American Styrenics plant. The Ledyard Police Department, Gales Fire Fire Company, United States Submarine Base Ambulance, Groton Ambulance, and Lawrence and Memorial Hospital Paramedic responded. Emergency responders found that a 2007 Nissan Frontier operated by John Etchells (date of birth August 26, 1972) of Baltic was taking a left turn out of the Dow parking lot when his vehicle was struck by a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser operated by Katherin Marceua of Norwich. Both operators required transport to the WW Backus Hospital in Norwich for their injuries. Based upon investigation, Marceau was cited for failing to obey traffic signal. Route 12 experienced while this accident was investigated and cleared.

Arrest Made in Ledyard Mobil Burglary
On November 25, 2010, at approximately 9:25 p.m., the Ledyard Police Department was notified of a commercial burglar alarm at the Ledyard Mobil on Route 117 in Ledyard Center. Responding officers found that the front door had been smashed and entry to the establishment had been gained. Investigation found that numerous cartons of cigarettes had been stolen and video surveillance provided Investigators with a clothing description of the accused. A canvass of the area led to information that a male wearing similar clothing was observed walking on Route 117 a short distance from the crime. Investigating officers located the individual within a residence where he was found in possession of the stolen property and had glass in his shoes.

As a result the accused, a 14-year-old male, was taken into custody. He was charged with burglary in the 3rd degree, larceny in the 6th degree, and criminal mischief 2nd degree. He will be presented in juvenile court.

Illegal Credit Card Use Arrest
On November 30, 2010, the Ledyard Police Department arrested Robert T. Coates, 23, of 205 Avery Hill Road in Ledyard on an arrest warrant stemming from a lengthy investigation by the Patrol and Detective Divisions. On January 4, 2010, the Ledyard Police Department received the report from a Ledyard resident reporting that their credit card had been utilized to purchase multiple items without their knowledge. Investigation found that the accused had made the purchases using the account of the victim. Coates was charged with theft of a credit card, illegal use of a credit card and third-degree larceny. He was presented at GA 10 for arraignment.
