Motor Vehicle Accident
On November 5, 2009, at 0047 hours, the Ledyard Police Department received multiple 911 calls indicating that a vehicle had rolled over on Route 214 just east of Shewville Road. The Ledyard Police Department, Ledyard Fire Department, Mashantucket Fire Dept, and American Ambulance responded. On arrival a 2001 Ford F-150 was found to have struck a guard rail and rolled over with the operator and 5 passengers inside. As a result of this accident 4 occupants were transported to the WW Backus Hospital with minor injury. The vehicle operator, Charles L. Smallwood of the U.S. Submarine Base in Groton was cited for traveling too fast for conditions.

Lakeside Condominium Association Larceny Arrest
On November 5, 2009, the Ledyard Police Detective Division arrested Cynthia S. Eddy (date of birth June 22, 1957) of 9 Tanglewood Drive in Preston for the charges of larceny 1st degree and forgery 3rd degree (2 counts). This arrest came after an arrest warrant was issued for her after a lengthy criminal investigation. Eddy, the former business manager of the Lakeside Condominium Association, is accused of taking money from the association over a period of several years. Eddy was released with a court date of November 19, 2009, at GA 10 in New London.

Ledyard High School Arrest
On November 12, 2009, at 0733hrs, the Ledyard Police Department was notified that an assault was taking place at the Ledyard High School. On arrival, officers found that 2 male students had assaulted another male student, while also causing injury to at least 1 staff member. No injured parties required transport to a medical facility. As a result of this assault Heshima Harris (November 10, 1991) of 44 Church Hill Road Ledyard and Vincent Sebastian October 11, 1991, of 42 Fanning Road in Ledyard were arrest and charged with assault 3rd degree and breach of peace.They were both processed and released with a court date of December 4, 2009, at GA 10 New London.

Arrest in Connection with Car Fire
On November 21, 2008, the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a vehicle fire occurring at the Lantern Hill Boat launch. The vehicle in this fire was completely destroyed. As a result of a lengthy investigation by the Ledyard Police Detective Division, Huong Son (date of birth July 4, 1986) of 186 Willetts Avenue in New London has been arrested on an arrest warrant charging her with providing a false statement and hindering prosecution. She was processed and released with a court date of November 23, 2009, at GA 10 New London. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Stabbing Arrest
On November 16, 2009, at 0855 hours, the Ledyard Police Department was notified of a possible assault having occurred at 31 Brewster Drive in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard. On arrival police located a female with stab wounds. The female was transported to the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich by the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad for the treatment of her injuries. A male at the home was taken into custody inside the residence without incident. Subsequent investigation by the Ledyard Police Department Patrol and Detective Divisions, Resident State Trooper, and the Eastern District Major Crime Squad led to Jeffrey A. Asbill (date of birth January 12, 1961) of 31 Brewster Drive in Gales Ferry being charged with criminal attempt to commit murder and assault in the 1st degree. He was held on bond and will be presented at GA 10 New London on November 17, 2009.
