Seach and Rescue
On Sunday March 9, 2008, at approximately 1557 hours the Ledyard Police Department, Gales Ferry Fire Department, Ledyard Fire Department, and Ledyard Ambulance responded to the “Pine Swamp” area off Whalehead Road for the report of 3 juvenile males lost in the woods. The Ledyard Police Department was contacted on 911 by the juveniles using a cell phone when they became lost in the woods. After a search lasting over 1 hour, the youths were located uninjured.

Robbery Investigation
The Ledyard Police Department is asking for help in our investigation of an assault that happened last week in Gales Ferry.

Officers were called to the parking area of Voodoo Daddy's restaurant at 1598 Route 12 about 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, for the report of a robbery and an assault. A 60-year-old man reported that 2 men had approached him and that 1 of the men struck him. He said the 2 men, both of whom were wearing baseball caps, knocked him to the ground and took his money.

Attempted Burglary
On Monday March 31, 2008 at approximately 8:15 p.m. the Ledyard Police Department received the report of a possible burglary taking place on Vinegar Hill Road in the Gales Ferry section of Ledyard. On arrival patrol officers found that a residence had been entered. During the course of this investigation it was found that the an attempt was also made to enter the home next door. The Ledyard Police Patrol Division, Canine Division, and Detective Division continued to investigate.
